COMING IN JANUARY 2013: "JESUS FREAKS"

As I've been mentioning, a debut single is on the way, due out January 2013 on Dead 2 Me Records, and getting everything in order has been an amazing experience to say the least. That's a photo of me (above) looking on as audio engineer Andy Shoemaker sits at the helm mixing "Jesus Freaks" at Chicago's Rax Trax Recording studio. Not seen, but well deserving of credit is Jamie Wineman, better known as Jimmy Con of the band Ghosthouse, who's assistance in the production of the track has been indispensible since the song's inception.

You can catch the debut performance of "Jesus Freaks" Thursday, December 20th at Chicago Metro. Click here for tickets.

Have a look at this video teaser produced by Saverio Truglia and myself:

NYE with LA*JESUS at Chicago's legendary Pump Room

On New Year's Eve, come and class it up with me in Chicago's historic Pump Room. Founded way back in 1938, The Pump Room is a restaurant located in the Public Hotel, in it's previous life known as The Ambassador East. I'll be laying down a smooth and sexy soundtrack from 9pm, toasting the New Year, and taking you all the way through the night to 2am.

Several ticket packages are available, and you can learn more by visiting Public's website.

TWO BIG GIGS, ONE HUGE NIGHT

You can catch me twice in one night, Thursday December 20th, starting with an appearance at the legendary Chicago venue Metro. Salonathon Presents: YOU'RE GONNA DIE, A Holiday Fantasia promises to be an unforgettable event, with several acts that made big waves in The Chi this year, including the scandalous rapper Big Dipper and the incomparable Honeybuns.

It is here that you can catch the PREMIER PERFORMANCE of my forthcoming single JESUS FREAKS, complete with The Fabulous Ladies of Fitness starring as, well... my Freaks!!

General admission tickets are still available here.

Visit the event page on Facebook.

To help get you pumped up, have a look at THIS:

After the show at Metro, I'm packin' up the pulpit and heading down to Berlin to close out the first night of the Twelve Days of Porn and Chicken. This, obviously, promises to be a night of uninhibited, um, joy. The PNC guys -- Orville Klein, Phives, and Dom Brown -- will all be there, along with JoJo Baby and Avi-Sic.

RSVP for no cover.

Visit the Event Page on Facebook.

Hope to see you out 12/20 at Metro or Berlin, or both!

LA*Jesus Photog Saverio Truglia Interviewed

The vast majority of the photos found on this website were taken by a man who, besides being incredibly talented, also happens to be a dear friend, which is something I've always felt very fortunate to be able to say.

Here is a remarkable interview with photographer Saverio Truglia, who shares a great deal of insight into how his beautiful images, such as the award winning shot seen here, are created.

From APhotoEditor.com:

Suzanne:  When I go to your site, it is hard to figure out what is self assigned and what is assignment.  What do you use for inspiration when you are testing for your portfolio?

Saverio: You’re right. I showcase mostly either self-assigned work or redirections of client work. I don’t differentiate the two on my site. All my best images comes from the same passion so if client work is great, then I share it in the same place. My inspiration for shooting for myself is driven by my personal curiosity in the moment. There’s a lot in life that inspires me to check it out more closely. Making pictures for myself usually starts with seeing something in the physical world I want to investigate and repurpose. Like an out of place situation, the way light strikes a surface, or meeting somebody extraordinary. Making personal work is important to honing my instincts. Testing can also be a launching pad to experiment and try new approaches at pushing my comfort zone. I’ll always gravitate to shooting people and I find the camera to still be an incredible access point into people’s lives. When they know my curiosity is authentic and pure, I get invited into homes, businesses and bedrooms. It’s kind of uncanny how they participate and it always leaves me with a story to tell about the experience, not just the pictures. I usually write about it on my blog. When clients reference my personal work as inspiration for their own projects, it often leads to successful campaigns.

It's New Mixtape Monday!™

Check out my Saturday afternoon performance on The Minimal Beat (88.7 WLUW/Chicago) from a few weeks back, October 6th 2012. I leaned heavily on some great reworkings of classic hits, balanced out with some of 2012's best nu-disco cuts. An excellent time; hope to be back hanging out with Billy and Lauren again soon. Thanks again!

LA*JESUS APPEARING AT REHAB, THIS MONDAY 9/10

After sharing the bill with the good dudes Team Bayside High last weekend, and apparently impressing the bejesus out of 'em, they wasted little time asking me to come through and rock the headline slot at their long running dance party Rehab, at Debonair Social Club in Chicago's Wicker Park, this Monday night 9/10.

Adding my name to the long list of amazing talent who has graced the decks there is a treat, to say the least. Can't wait to blow up that party and make some more believers out of 'em!

Hosted 312 Urban Wheat Ale and Reyka Vodka 10-11 pm with RSVP at DO312.

I had a blast hanging with Scott Drasler (Party Line Chicago) and Emma Arnold (Trés Awesome) at North Coast Music Festival on Sunday. Not a bad thing hanging with TWO photographers! Emma included this sweet shot in a post today featuring stylin' individuals seen at the fest.

Last night's North Coast Music Festival After Party at Cobra Lounge was SO MUCH FUN!!! Thanks to everyone who came out and got down and showed me SO MUCH LOVE!!! I am truly blessed to have you show up ready to take a ride with me, and lose yourself and forget about everything.

Before.

That's what it's like up there for me. It's like time stops. The rest of the world may as well not even exist, there is only you, me and the connection we share through the music.

After.

It was great shaking Dan Deacon's hand and giving him some respect. Per usual, he set up on the floor with his back to the crowd, allowing all to see exactly what he was doing. Some may have been a little thrown by his set; he stuck with familiar old school jams like "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" and "Ignition" and even "What's Your Fantasy", but folks were willing to go right along with it.

Dan Deacon('s shiny head and laptop).

Team Bayside High are seriously some Party Professionals, their song doesn't lie. Their set was dynamite, lots of unexpected twists and turns. I've got mad respect for them and what they've been able to do in Chicago. Credit where credit is due, they were instrumental in putting our city back on the map as a major player on dance music's world stage.

All in all, an amazing night was had. I couldn't even manage to sleep in this morning, I woke up and immediately was replaying the night in my head. If you were there, thank you so incredibly much, hope to see you back out in the world again sometime soon. If you weren't there, come out sometime and see what you've been missing.

Much Love,
LA*

Tonight I return to the scene of insanity from one year ago this weekend... Cobra Lounge for another North Coast Music Festival After Party. This time around I'll be warming up the stage for local party heroes Team Bayside High, and the incomparable Dan Deacon.

Can't wait to see what the night brings. Last year's NCMF After ended up being one of the most raucous shows I played all year. I'll be doing my part to see that this show's one of the best times YOU'LL have THIS year. Let's do this!!!

You can still purchase tickets here til 7pm Saturday night.

So, last night's Reader B-Side Booze Cruise was nothing short of incredible! The weather was PERFECT. Good pals Moon Boots and Rogue Vogue kicked things off as we set sail, providing us with breezy tunes as the sun was still setting behind us. The homies Ghosthouse funked it up, LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO, as the night fell so smoothly upon us.

My set was a smorgasbord of classic jams, but the highlight for me was when everybody went CRAZY for Prince's "I Wanna Be Your Lover" (which by the way, if you were wondering that is the ingenious "I Wanna Be Your Lobster" re-edit, by Dimitri From Stoke on Trent, who is, obviously, Dimitri From Paris.) BStarr couldn't resist and grabbed the mic for some impromptu karaoke, which was priceless!

Afterwards, we headed to Primary Nightclub, where none other than Derrick Carter was to be performing. Rather than take a cab, we opted for a limo, which with Maryrose Moses' reaction to us hopping out, was totally worth it. "Seriously?" she said with a smirk. Just before jumping out, JoJo Jean took the excellent pic above of Jimmy Con from Ghosthouse and I.

There will be more pics of this amazing night to come...
