New Mix & DJ Residency

Hey! Jeeeez, I know it's been a while since I checked in with you. I started writing a little update to precede my post here, but there's just so much that I decided that's a whole other post and I gotta cut right to the chase here!

Why? Because it's Valentines Day tomorrow and my new mix just happens to have something in common. Translated from it's Latin title, it's called ANGELIC LUST.

I put this mix together for my peoples at Bordel, Chicago. I've been holding down a DJ residency there for a while now and thought it was time to commemorate that.

The title of the mix was acquired through a little bit of research into instances of love and sex in The Holy Bible. Turns out The Song of Solomon was originally a straight up piece of erotica -- IN THE BIBLE. While reading further, I came across the phrase "angelic lust" and it just had the right ring to it. This, I thought, was a great way to link the identities of LA*Jesus and Bordel, which means, well, "brothel." Then, added a little extra twist with Latin -- the language of love -- and there you have it.

The mix kicks off with strains of familiar tunes (starting with Hall & Oates "I Can't Go For That") scattered throughout remixes in styles that are hard to categorize... tropical-ish, nu-disco-y house and future funk?? It storms on with some solid disco re-edits that really gets things pumping. Really, it takes many twists and turns, and I'd rather let the music do the talking, so just do it, go ahead and give it a spin on Soundcloud, won't you?

If you're in Chicago, you can catch me spinning at Bordel Thursday and Friday evenings.
